Four things I love about my Melco server

1.    The Melco sounds absolutely great! ~ I got my first hard drive music server in 2003.  Since then I’ve always had a server in my system.  Heck, I’ve even built three from computers.  My wife and I were pretty happy with our last “home-brewed” Mac server.  That is until we heard the Melco.  We were both seriously impressed at how much better the Melco sounded.  I’m not talking about something “a little better” here.  With the Melco the music is just like playing the CD/file through our transport/DAC (naturally we use that same DAC for the Melco).

2.    The Melco is the easiest to use server I’ve used. ~ You can choose from many apps to control your Melco.  I settled on Arcam’s Music Life (it’s free from the Apple app store).  You just select the library you wish to play from (the Melco’s internal drives or streaming from other libraries on the network… hint: the music sounds best played from the Melco’s drives).  Once you select the library you select where you want the music to play and start listening.  It really is that easy.

3.    There is no network set-up ~ Yup, you read that right.  The Melco really is “plug & play”.  You do not need to fuss with your router to get the Melco on your network.  You just plug in the Ethernet cable and the Melco pops up on your network.

4.    It’s the most fun you can have with digital music ~ The Melco has become the most used source in our system.  Both my wife and I have noticed that we do play more music than ever since we added the Melco to our system.  Because it sounds so great and is so easy to use we do really listen to the system more than ever.

Stay tuned, I’ll give you all more things to love about the Melco.
