A wave of new moving magnet cartridges from Rega has over taken the hi-fi space. Three to be exact make up the Nd series. We’ve recently covered the Nd3 in depth, but let’s dive into the most premium offering: the Nd7.
Coming just after the Nd5 which was boasted as the first moving magnet cartridge in the world to utilize a Neodymium magnet, the Nd7 features that same talking point as well. The use of this particular type of magnet is key in the tracking of the cantilever’s lateral and vertical movements. Rega says it has worked on this cartridge for well over ten years and they are very proud of what the end result was.
Other areas worthy of mention are the diamond cut stylus tip that precisely extracts detail and offers the best tracking accuracy. It’s a swirl of geometry, symmetry, and magnets. The end result is one of the most accurate and detail oriented experiences on the market.
