Chord's Rumour X Cable Keeps Winning

The Chord Company recently announced that their Rumour X cable line took home gold at the recent SVI Trade awards! This is in addition to being named one of the best speaker cables available from What Hi-Fi?, receiving a solid 5 Stars from What Hi-Fi?, and getting the five-star "Recommended" badge from Hi-Fi Choice this year. At an attainable price and amazing quality, Chord's Rumour X is certainly one of the best speaker cables on the market.

In the February edition of Hi-Fi Choice Magazine (442), Hi-Fi Choice bestowed the "Recommended" badge on the Chord Rumour X speaker cable, along with 5 stars. Testing a Rumour X cable with the factory-fitted ChordOhmic banana plugs, the reviewer was impressed by the tight bass response, stating: "The soundstage is vast and the whole performance is both powerful and sophisticated."

Previous versions of Rumour speaker cables used PTFE insulation (often referred to as Teflon™) and until the arrival of Taylon®, this was Chord's "go to" material. Although expensive, PTFE offered the best performance. Material technology is constantly developing and improving and alternatives to PTFE are now available. While the high cost of Taylon® prevents Chord from using this in all of ranges, they were able to find a suitable family of insulation materials known as XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene). One version of this material looked particularly interesting and following listening tests, proved to be clearly better than the PTFE in the Rumour speaker cable – now known as Rumour X.
