Futuristic & Fun: The ULTIMA Integrated
Posted by The Sound Organisation on Aug 26th 2024
Chord Electronics’ first new integrated amplifier in seven years was announced just last year at the High End show in Munich. The all new Ultima Integrated began production in 2024 and has made its way into the homes and offices of many hi-fi enthusiasts. Let’s break down some of the initial thoughts from SoundStage Hi-Fi’s latest review of the all new Ultima.
The Ultima Integrated joins the lineup of other preexisting amplifiers such as the Ultima Pre 3 and Ultima 6. The Ultima Integrated is a full width device that has a power output of 125Wpc. In terms of connections you’ll find a stereo balanced XLR input, one stereo balanced XLR A/V bypass input, three unbalanced RCA inputs, one stereo balanced XLR pre-out and one 12V trigger input/output.
The looks of the Ultima are exactly what you would come to expect from Chord. It’s a high end product with the build quality to match. It’s been described as “stunning” and “spaceship” like. This would make sense considering it’s constructed out of aircraft grade aluminum. Once plugged in, lights of all colors signal that the machine is awake and ready. All in all, it’s a stunning machine that looks like you would expect for what its selling price is.
In terms of sound, it’s sweet and smooth. Packed full of texture and distinction in the vocals, it soared. It seemed to perfectly stage the audio with no fluff and no gimmicks. It’s truly something you have to experience in person to believe.
