The Brio Goes Digital: Rega Brio MK7 Review
Posted by The Sound Organisation on Apr 13th 2025
Rega has once again delivered a surprise that’s music to every audiophile’s ears. At the 2025 Bristol Audio Show, attendees were told to expect the new Brio MK7 Integrated Amplifier later this year—but in true Rega fashion, they decided to shake things up and release it early. “You’re allowed to smile. Even audiophiles,” a recent review in eCoustics jokes—and that’s exactly what we did when we heard the news.
The Brio MK7 marks the first major update to Rega’s beloved integrated amp in over five years, and it’s packed with thoughtful improvements that honor its analog roots while embracing the demands of modern systems. Still a compact powerhouse, the MK7 delivers 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 72 watts into 6 ohms, with a completely revamped circuit design that improves signal isolation and overall performance. Most excitingly, it now features an internal DAC—bringing digital connectivity into the Brio line for the very first time.
With both digital coaxial and optical inputs supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM, the MK7 opens up new ways to integrate streamers, CD players, and more into your setup. While previous generations of the Brio were strictly analog, this version follows the lead of the Elex Mk4 and Elicit Mk5, offering a hybrid design that’s both flexible and forward-thinking. Despite these upgrades, Rega has managed to keep the form factor sleek and the price point extremely competitive.
This is a modern amplifier that doesn’t forget what makes music playback special—delivering that signature Rega sound with warmth, punch, and a whole lot of musicality. For anyone building a system, the Brio MK7 feels like a no-brainer. Whether you’re spinning vinyl, streaming digital files, or just enjoying your favorite albums through headphones, the Brio MK7 is ready to bring the performance.
