Key Takeaways from the newest Planar 3

The Rega Planar 3 has long been deemed one of the best high-end turntables by hi-fi lovers. It should come as no shock as Rega has built a decades spanning loyalty with its customer base by creating stellar products with quality at the forefront. Michael Zisserson with the Future Audiophile shared his experience with the Planar 3- let’s check out some of the highlights.

Starting off with build quality first. This is definitely a step up from his Planar 1 and rightly so due to its higher price point. Zisserson then explains that most of the products he sees from other hi-fi companies don’t seem to actually differentiate quality for price. Most companies simply throw on a few accessories on the entry level items and jack the price up. Rega seems to actually make it worth the upgrade.

The Planar 3 has been an ever evolving product in the market for years. This seems to have been a linear progression to almost perfection. Take the plinth for example- one of the most essential components to a turntable. On the Planar 3 you’ll find a low-mass rigid core with a bracing skeleton supporting the table. Powering the system is a 24-volt, low-torque motor that helps lower the noise and keep everything stable.

As far as looks, customers should be satisfied with their color options for the Planar 3. It comes in gloss back, modern white, red, and a new light oak finish.
