The Chord Electronics BerTTi Amplifier
Posted by The Sound Org on Dec 20th 2023
Chord Electronics is known for their design, quality, and innovation. The BerTTi Amplifier is the latest example of those traits that Chord Electronics are known for. The BerTTi falls in the middle of their table top lineup along with the Hugo TT2 and M Scaler.
The BerTTi is a balanced Class AB MOSFET design. It outputs 75W RMS and implements a dual-feed-forward error correction system that we’ve seen in other recent Chord Electronics hardware. This system is an improvement over the previous TToby.
The main difference between the new BerTTi and the TToby is mainly the dual-feed-forward correction system we discussed earlier. This technology was inspired years ago by a theory from Professor Malcom J Hawksford. Also present is a 400kHz low noise power supply that will give the aux rails a boost.
As far as design, it what consumers have come to know and love from Chord Electronics. It’s a big chunk of metal, but somehow it works and always has. It’s become a symbol of luxury and quality.
The sound is clean and the listening experience is what you would expect from a product in its category. It’s crisp and polished. It also pairs well with a wide range of speaker options.
